OT: What Internet Voice applications are you using?

Just curious what Internet Voice applications people are using. There's the obvious one, Skype, but I'm also interested in hearing about alternatives.

Personally I'm a fan of the Gizmo Project. It's pretty much the exact thing as Skype, but it uses SIP for it's voice protocol. SIP is an open protocol unlike Skypes proprietary protocol.

So if you use an Internet Voice application please let me know by responding to this thread and listing what you use.

Thanks,

Aaron

Nothing special - just MSN Messenger, 7.0, which has pc-to-pc VoIP & full-screen video support. My wife and I have relatives in other countries, so this is a cheap, easy way we keep in touch.

Are you developing extensions to your VoIP client? Just wondering, since you mentioned that it uses SIP & that you like the fact that it's open. Otherwise, if you're not modifying the stack, it wouldn't matter too much whether it's open or not, right? Unless you're just coming from the perspective of supporting open stuff in general. It does typically evolve to become more robust & feature rich more quickly than proprietary stuff, that's for sure.

I use Skype. It allows me to phone my girlfriend in the USA from my PC to her landline phone in her house. Where she lives she cannot get DSL. And the best thing is it costs peanuts. An hour on the phone from the UK costs about 50p ($1)

Yeah, PC to PSTN ("landline") is cool. MSN Messenger 7.0 doesn't have that yet, but we haven't had a need for it. Everything we do with it is PC to PC.
