Firefox 3.0 was just released today and Mozilla is trying to break the Guiness Book Record for most downloads in a day. I've installed it on a Mac and just installed it on my Ubuntu machine. Definitely noticeably faster on the Mac. Can't really tell on my Linux machine though.
All in all I like it so far. Only problem I've seen so far, is some of my favorite extensions haven't been updated to support Firefox 3.0 yet. In time those 3rd party developers should add support. However some extensions aren't even needed any more as the functionality was included in this Firefox update. Show your support and help Mozilla break the record Spread Firefox | The Home of Firefox Community Marketing Internet Explorer users should definitely make the switch! Safari users, well that's a completely acceptable browser, but you guys should at least check out this new version of Firefox. |

I've been on the FF3B for a few weeks as it came with the newest version of Ubuntu. I did my update to 3.0 on the 17th; I love everything about it save Flash 9... for the life of me, I have not been able to get Flash or Gnash to work properly.

I haven't upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 yet, but I was having issues with flash on Ubuntu 7.10 last night at home. I had to download flash directly from the Adobe site. I download the tar.gz version. Once it downloaded to the desktop I right clicked on it and clicked on Extract Here. Then I opened up a terminal window and did the following commands: Code:
cd Desktop/install_flash_player_9/ Code:
sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/firefox-3.0/plugins/ Technically in Ubuntu 8.04 you should be able to do that all from Synaptic or whatever package manager you prefer, but the above should work just as well, maybe even better. Only downside with my method is you'll have to manually do that again next time a flash update comes out. By then though, I imagine the next version of Ubuntu will be out.... |

Love Firefox and use it all the time. However, on two occasions it has performed an auto update and I have lost ALL my favourites
