Played 2 gigs now with these Coated 5's! And all I gots to say is Ahhhhhhhh Yeaaaaahhhh! These are the greatest. I was afraid they would be slime coated like an alixer string but these are way cooler. Rather than feeling like plastic they feel like the original Slinky 5 bass strings but better! I am shocked at how amazing these are. Especially for the playing I do. I sweat a lot and these strings stay dry the whole time! They feel tighter and resonate incredibly. The tone is still great as I sit here and practice. Incredible. Thankyou Ernie Ball for once again making an unbeatable and innovative product! I can rip like never before and its thanks to your passion in creating the best strings and guitars possible. Cheers!

Anyone got any sound clips with the new coated strings?

Ed Friedland made a nice comparison with slinky nickel, steel and coated. Furthermore his Big Al review was recorded using coated slinkys...

so a product recall is not on the cards then?

I've sent my coated slinkys back to CS as requested. Two sets in a row were 'unsatisfactory' after only days. I also sent them my still somewhat playable, 4 month old Elixirs for comparison. I'm hoping to be somehow helpful to CS and not just a complainer.
I would love to have the EB coateds be the Elixir killers, but in my experience so far, Elixirs are the ones to beat for extreme longevity and value. |

Finally got a set of Coated 100-45 strings on my Stingray today. Regular Slinky bass strings last 3-4 months. Sad but true, I don't get to play as much as I'd like to. So let the longevity test begin.
