Ernie Ball VPJR 6180

ok - I have very much been a fan of EB volume pedals since I bought my first one approx 3 years ago.I have no problems or complaints at all... until yesterday.

Went out to my practice room and plugged in. Warmed up with some scales then started rehearsing for a gig this weekend. Did some swells with my VPJR and noticed a couple of loud pops and cracks during the pedal travel. I located the pot and sprayed with some deox cleaner. This seemed to do the trick initially but after approx an hour the pops and scratches were returned.

I'm a little miffed. I've heard of users compaining of dodgy pots in their VPs after 20 years, but never after 3!!

Did a little research on the net and found that it appears that the full size VPs use a sealed pot, whereas the VPJRs use a open "alpha" style pot - looks a lot cheaper.

I note there are direct replacements for the VPJR available - however I was wondering whether anyone had attempted to fit a better quality sealed pot. It would have to have a reasonably long solid shaft to accomodate the brass fitting . Shouldn't be too difficult to find a replacement. Just trying to think of ways to give the pedal a little more lifespan. ANyone tried this?

Anyone from Ernie Ball monitoring?? Dont suppose you'd offer a free replacement pot as mine seems to be pemanently damaged?
