Flatwound strings... which guitar?

Hello boys and girls,

I've got a single set of EB Flatwound Jazz Strings, but never tried flats before... just wondering which guitar to put them on, the choice is my Ovation Deacon (early 80s mahogany, solid body) or ES335-style semi-acoustic Hofner Verythin ('Contemporary series' - modern Chinese cheapy).

I'm favouring the Deacon, but know that flatstrings are more popular on Jazz hollow-body archtops...

Any thoughts??
