EB Flatwound Strings; about Gauge

Hello!

I am a bassist who has used Ernie Ball strings for a very long time. I am now interested in flatwound strings because I am positive that it will give me the tone I am looking for and I have decided, after lots of digging and research, to go with Ernie Ball Flatwounds.

My only issues, though; is that I play tuned down-sometimes tuned very down-and I like my strings to be heavy. Not just to increase the tension of the tuned-down strings, but I have grown to like the feel of heavier strings.

Normally, I use the Power Slinkies (.50-.135) and I love them! Now, with the Flatwounds you can get for string sets going up to .55-.110, but the thickest B String you can get is .130.

Now, I know the difference isn't much. Also, I have read that the tension of flatwound strings is higher than round wound, so maybe it's not a big deal? I am going to try the .45-.130 set regardless and I have not even the shadow of a doubt that I will love them. But what if I want something thicker? Will I want something thicker?? I'd love some advice from some more knowledge folk!

Thank you!!

flats have more tension than rounds.. like a standard set of roundwounds 45-105 have the same tension of a light gauge flats.. well that's in the case.. I haven't tried the Ernie Flats but they're pretty close to the D'Addario Chrome's tension..
