Here's this weeks poem. Not in the traditional format but art has to evolve?
A great weekend and week to you!
Louis :)

Nearly Blues.

Don’t forget to take the last good one in town she said,
You could take the future now
Or see the smiles on someone else’s face instead.

At the graduation day someone I lent my program to
Went home with it,
Made my memories theirs instead.

And the paper handed to you was a plainer affair that said:
“Son, you’re a winner but here’s your third class chair”,
That’s what it said.

The song’s a griper, sour in taste, thoughts and sight.
No worse feeling than you win,
But not quite.
For Jeff Clyne.
(Jazz double bassist. November 16th, 2009)

I recall he said that practice was the key,
No other way to make the music fit.
And though he was the master of contrabass technicality
He’d admonish – in gentleness - that
Graceful taste in the performance was, or pretty much,
All the art of it.

Surprisingly his honesty was such; that of the electric version he confessed he’d not learnt much.
With that he taught that root and fifths and octaves were usually “right”
And to play the walking line as if trying to catch the bus,
But not to run, not plodding but
Keeping your touch light.

All from a single session, merely half a day.
This moment
From my treasures came back
To me today.

In A Twelve Bar Tune.

When I first met you,
You were such a pretty thing.
Gave you my heart,
‘Long with a diamond ring.
Now you’re gone baby
I no longer croon,
Just blues along ‘bout life and love,
In a twelve bar tune.

Sometimes sunny weather,
Then you get a little rain.
If it keeps on staying foggy,
Maybe I’ll go to Spain.
And find another darling,
I pray it’ll be soon.
And blues along ‘bout life and love,
In a twelve bar tune.

You see the situation’s sad,
Too low for explanation.
Only Jesus and the President,
Say they can save our nation.
And whether right or wrong,
All will be revealed soon,
Meanwhile I’ll blues along,
In a twelve bar tune.
