Writing songs

I am in the middle of a horrendous move...been in the same ole barn for the past 30 years, and am an emotional trainwreck...for what it*s worth..it has blown away any writer*s block that has plagued me,and I*ve been writing more music than I have for quite some time..go figure...

Classic suffering-artist syndrome. Good luck with the tunes and getting the cars back on the track.

I wrote five songs back in my band days. Before I started writing I thought it would be easy. I soon learned just how difficult it is to write. Many many times I thought I had written a good melody only to realize a few moments later that melody had already been done. It's tough.

Honestly it doesn't surprise me lol. I try to write for my band all the time, and it seems like whenever theres no personal drama and everything is smooth sailing, I can't write anything good to save my life. When there's drama though, the music flows, I guess from a situational inspiration so to speak. I wouldn't say it's a good thing though, I've been know to cause drama just so I can write a song or to about it.

I find it's a much easier process if you have a writing partner, me and mate write together alot, and alot of the times he'll finish off an idea l have or l'll finish off one of his ideas, but at times l'll come in with a complete song, or vise versa.

At times you'll accidentally steal someones ideas, it's no big deal, we all do it at one time or another, hell, Coldplay have made a career out of it, but l say if you are gonna steal someones idea, steal a great idea, not a bad one.

Scott.

I wrote more songs while Tom was in hospital than in my whole life, I used to just sit there and play guitar next to his bed and came up with heaps of good stuff over the course of a few months. I guess its like blues guys who are down to their last dollar!

I had an operation a few months ago. I was pretty doped up on vicodins, just plugged in my Silo, and I knocked out the music and lyrics in two days. Usually I take weeks to put something together.

I tend to Just mess around and make up funny songs or rhymes as I play along.. I will have to record my friend Alan and the songs that we came up with but they always have inside jokes to them
