BTW, off topic from Neal Schon, if you were to recommend one quintessential Albert Lee CD which one would you recommend first?

All I have of his is a bunch of stuff a buddy of mine had taped for me on a cassette along with some Little Feat and Dixie Dregs back in the early 90s. Thanks.

Got all of Neal's stuff...the dude can play a melody line and then he throws all that technique into the mix...wow...good stuff!

Heart break Hill, from a couple of years ago is quite good, not sure if its the best AL cd, he doesnt really do a crazy guitar thing, most of his cd's are full of good songs and tasty playing.

I think you nailed it about what makes Neal special. I find Luke to be that same type of player. They have a quality about their playing that almost tells a story. Rather than a conglomeration of runs and fills, there's something very emotional and narrative about their playing. Their music breathes. Pat Metheny is similar in that sense.

Thanks for sharing that Rob. I need to check out YouTube more. That particular track reminds me of the solo for I'll Be Alright Without You, certainly from that era of Journey.
