Yeah, I'm really getting into Mars Volta right now. They are so crunchy, that and Umphrey's McGee.

One cd that's "stuck" in my both car and home player is "Uncle Moe's Space Ranch- Moe's Town" , a sequel to first UMSR cd.
It is unreal album , if you like monstrous players and that hard core jazz fusiony sound.
Brett Garsed(guitars)
TJ Helmerich(guitars)
Dennis Chambers(drums)
Gary Willis(bass)
Scott Kinsey(keys)

Try Stolenshots. A local catchy ska band. Look for them in Myspace. They are really great. 1st album will be launched maybe by the opening 2010.

When I was out in Kelowna for school, one of my friends there has a cousin in the band Secret & Whisper. A pretty sweet, high energy, 3-5 min-long song type band. Nice production and enough guitar work to keep me happy. They're on Myspace and they seem to have a pretty big following, (their CD "Great White Whale" can be found in HMV).

They get the Nils seal of approval.

Not like TA but... Transatlantic is currently in the studio doing a new album. They've been at it for about a week or so now.

I saw that on their website the other day. I wonder, though, why Neal Morse decided to make another TA album rather than rejoin Spock's Beard? Almost like a slap in the face to his old bandmates (and brother)....
