Talking my Hall & Oates cover band - video of our first gig!

So, a few months ago we decided to form a Hall & Oates cover band for a laugh, and as things progressed we added a backup singer and really tried to nail things down and make it as good as we could.

"The Maneaters" had our first gig just over a week ago at "BaconFest" the annual fundraiser for Dad's Garage, a really cool non-profit improv comedy theater here in ATL.

We did all Hall & Oates songs, except during our last song, Kiss is on my List, we dropped into Jump/VH. The crowd loved it all, especially the last few songs.

Here's a video of Jump/KissList (sound quality is ok, not real good, but decent)

You'll notice my old Music Man HD-130 amp behind me. I'm the good looking one in the silver jacket on the left, playing guitar.

Oh, I bought my Rosewood Axis SS about 8 months ago....it's been about the only guitar I've played since, hadn't broken a single string on it....until, yep, you guessed it, the gig. I got thru the song fine with 5 strings, but had to swtich to my backup guitar after that, which is in the video.

Here's two pics of me with my Rosewood Axis SS early in the gig before the broken string, and before the crowd got up off their arses.

We did:
One on One - soundcheck
Can't Go for That
Rich Girl
Private Eyes
Sara Smile
Out of Touch
Did it in a Minute
You Make my Dreams Come True
She's Gone
Maneater
Kiss is on my List/Jump

wow, didn't realize there were so many H&O fans here, haha.

In that case, here's the promo poster thingy our bass player whipped up.

Thank You, Good Night!

Thanks! Maybe you can catch us next time.

I'll make a note of our next gig here when we get something else lined up.

haha, funny you should mention that, given your Master Shake avatar. Our "Hall" & "Oates" are both writers at Adult Swim.

Haha that's great! I love most of their shows. Don't get a lot of time to see them though.

Exclamation Maneaters (Hall & Oates cover band) gig this Friday in ATL

We have a gig this Fri evening at the 529 Club in East ATL. We're sharing the gig with Attractive Eighties Women (they're neither women, nor attractive) and Excalibrah (a Druid rapper, whatever that is). We go on at 10pm, come on out!

We tried to put together a Van Halen cover band, but we couldn't decide on a lead singer, and we eventually had a falling out with the bass player......

Tried that. We had to track the original basslines through the P.A. from a recording because he didn't know them. Besides, he tried to kick my ass one night when I had too much to drink.
