Really nice songs Lonney and everyone else. I feel like an amateur in these parts!!! Hang on, I am

New song on my account. Kind of went off on a tangent with this one. Kind of Propoganda met Larry Carlton, got very drunk and had a slightly retarded child! I like it though, and that's what counts

Nice one Ali - that was a mellow session! I liked the applause towards the end How was the track put together? Was this on the Line6?

Haha. Yes, the applause were me fiddling about with samples, wasn't meant to be left in but it made me smile everytime I heard it! The track was put together almost a year ago in Garageband by cutting pasting bits of other samples and using pitch shift. In fact, it was the first song I put together when I bought the new laptop and found GB already installed! The chords were transposed from guitar.

It's sat on my hard drive ever since. It was put together as part of a few songs dedicated to my son while he was going through chemo, hence the mellowness. The guitar part was through the Toneport and played on the Axis neck p/u with the volume rolled back to 6 or 7.

It wasn't meant to be a final track. I played it through because I was getting frustrated at another track, played it back and liked it. Didn't like my first chorus, liked the second one, so played that again and that was it. I might go back to it one day and tidy it up but I like it for it being an honest first take improvised session, so maybe I should just leave it?

I have also recently started putting ideas down - I tend to scratch ideas down - having time, writing and learning to use software all make it time consuming!! I keep the scratch tracks and then work them as and when I have time. Keep it - I tend to put better sections of songs I like on my website - and like you will tidy them up when I have time. My recording is very sloppy at the moment though - just stick down the tracks mistakes and all! Hope your son is getting through it - must be tough.
Cheers
james

My rock and roll band has some songs online.

Go to www.thenewabsolutes.com and go to the music page. We only have 2 studio recordings at this time and the rest are all live tracks. Listen if you want and let me know what you think. thanks. This is a cool thread.

Here's a few links to mp3's on my website. Lotsa different styles but all with me doing my thing.

This is kinda 'Doug Aldrich-ish'!

http://www.chris-watson.com/mp3/Chri...0(mix%202).mp3

This is kinda Jeff Beck-ish!

http://www.chris-watson.com/mp3/Chri...n%20Sunday.mp3

This is BALLS TO THE WALL METAL!! (with a good friend from Wisconsin doing his thang also)

http://www.chris-watson.com/new_mp3/...%27%20High.mp3

This is kinda old skool blues/rock:

http://www.chris-watson.com/new_mp3/...h%20Frenzy.mp3

This is a ballad written shortly after the terrible tsunami...called it 'Hope'

Alternatively go to http://www.chris-watson.com/mp3.htm and choose one of about 20!
