Hi Guys/Girls!

I am the customer who has a problem with the neck plate on the SR4, its this one:

"E028xx...Highly likely to be a 1998. For more information see notes for serial# E35324 below.

E35324...This neck plate was allocated by EB, as at March 2003, to a Bass, according to UK owner, approx 4 years old, with faulty neck plate. Remembers only part of the old serial...E028xx listed above. Natural with Maple. 3 Band EQ. Ernie Ball advised the new serial will not reflect any info on the Bass."

The bass still plays like a dream, and new neck plate is still immaculate as is the bass. I dont gig it much as it was my first proper bass that costs near the £1K mark.

So, thats my bass, and yep, as much as it was cosmetic, I wanted to keep the bass immaculate.

The next thing I need to add to the list is my other SR4, a Black, Rosewood Neck, 3 band EQ. This again had a problem with the neck plate about a year ago, and Strings n Things sent me another new plate out which was great. This time I kept the old plate with the old serial number so I have its new plate fitted, and its original serial number.

Again, Ive really looked after this bass, it was cosmetic, but I like my instruments immaculate.

Both these SR4's look like they've barely been played!

Anyway, Ill provide both the old serial and new serial asap so it can be added to the list.

Thanks

Hi Dan,
I was getting ready to start pulling necks for body and neck dates to add to the serial number data “bass”. I wanted to see what information Ernie Ball has on these basses; build date, color, neck, pg, etc. so that I can be as accurate as possible.

I may have lucky 13 for you in a few days...Thanks to you and all at EB for making and doing great stuff!

Production date and wood of my SR4 and SR5

Hi there,

I do have two Stingrays:
SR5 Maple Neck in translucent red (serial: 59619)
SR4 fretless 2band in translucent teal (serial: D 07269)
I bought them ~10 years ago. When were they made?
Are the bodys made of ash or alder?

I hope you can help me.
Thanks & Regards & Greetings from Munich

Maxx, welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your new bass! It is true that there were only 25 of these all-rosewood neck 25th Anniversary basses made, and you have #22 out of the 25. Your HSS Quilt version was completed on 8/13/09. Nice.

Dan

WOW - that is quite a collection! These are all yours? wow!

You don't need to pull the necks off to discover the dates. That will only tell you the date the neck was made ready, at best. The only accurate way to know the actual date of completion is with our database, kept safe in an underground, locked 3-foot thick steel vault here at the EBMM compound.

OK, here we go - this is a lot o serial #'s so forgive me for being brief. If you want more information on any of these I will be glad to oblige.

48737 - 02/12/96
F00134 - 4/6/98
F14149 - 12/30/05
F09725 - 4/09/04
F13075 - 7/08/05
E30015 - 4/03/02
48720 - 2/16/96
34409 - 5/21/92
E54091 - 7/13/06
E55128 - 6/19/06
E55385 - 6/01/06
32675 - 4/09/91
E39528 - 2/27/04

Thanks for all the nice comments too! We try hard to make a great product!
Dan
