Hey Gav, this bass was completed on 1/13/06 and was invoiced under a miscellaneous account. I don't see how it can be an true Onyx as all 150 of those were built in the fall of 2002. What probably happened here is that we built it for an artist who requested black hardware and we were nice enough to make the bass that way. All of the Black Onyx Sterlings had numbers written on the back indicating which of the 150 it was in the sequence - which is the only time I know of us doing such a thing.

Dan

How about an E22585 Stingray 5? What about the neck, anything special about it? Thanks

Is there anyway to get my precise DOB for my trans-orange sr4 serial #E50995. I think it would be sometime in December '05 but it may be in early '06. Thx

b0b, This StingRay 5 was completed on 4/26/01 and is Blue Pearl with a maple neck and matching headstock. It was originally sent to Bass Central. There is nothing overly special about the neck -- other than it's a Music Man!

Gav, very interesting - yes, I did notice that it went out to an unspecified artist. Apparently the love affair and the "need" for a faux-Black Onyx Sterling deteriorated over time, prompting him (or her) to sell the bass that they had been given.

At any rate, a unique instrument, to be sure!

Dan

Hi Dan,
I am the proud owner of my first EBMM bass (I have no idea why it has taken me so long to join the club!).
I'd be very grateful if you could provide any info (DOB, which sales outlet etc) you have on my new baby! S/N - F06754.
Many thanks.
Chris

Marco, welcome, and congratulations on your "Five Strings Dream". Your new friend's production date was 4/25/06 - An HS Natural/Maple with a tortoise guard. What a beautiful bass it must be! It was, of course shipped to our new Italian distributor, Mogar Music, who in turn would've shipped it to the store you bought it from.

All the best -

Dan

hank,

This is one of the elusive Red Sparkle StingRays, with a maple neck and matching 'stock, no less! A "sharp dressed bass", and if that wasn't enough, it was shipped with a white pearloid pickguard as a finishing touch.

Build date: 6/25/02 originally shipped to the very cool guys at the Guitar Emporium, Louisville, Kentucky.

Arf!

Dan
