Just brought this home from the local GC.

Is this "Saphire black?"

Late 1987 (either Nov or Dec). It was around this time that a decal first appeared on the rear of the headstock ("Made in SLO Califirnia").

My notes are that they have either Black or Sapphire Black. I don't know how to spot the difference (at this point in time).

I did some research and it is "sapphire" black. The regular black is darker and not as flaky on the finish.

The dates are located on the back of the neck at the heel and in the body pocket where the neck fits. The neck has to be removed to view them.
