Thanks.

My serial lists are meant as a ready-reckoner (only) to give a rough idea of date. They are not a complete data base.

Serial numbers for Pre-EB Basses don't exist so a comparison with other dated Pre-EB serials should be helpful.

As Ernie Ball has it's own data base for all their instruments, the date of an EB instrument can be obtained by posting in this thread and quoting your serial number.

My contribution to the MM Legacy

Just Bought a Stingray5 Copperhead/Bronze with rosewood fretboard. S#E43226 Got to be one of the most beautiful basses I have ever seen!!!!

P.S.
I don't think all MMs are created equal. I picked this out of 30 something basses I tested and could not get any other stingray, sterling, or Bongo to come close to the tone and throatyness of this bass. This is definatly "The One" or atleast it is for me!!!!

Welcome to the forum and congrats.

Copperhead bronze is rare. Another forum member has a SR5 with the same finish and, putting aside the Sting Ray (which I last heard was sitting in Dereks room at EB), I think that's about it. They may have done a Stertling also but, in total, there's only about 4 Basses, from memory, with that finish.

Copperhead/Bronze ST5 Rosewood Neck E43226

I have found out that my bass is a prototype model for late 2004 and was never put into production. Who would know the exact number of these basses that were made in late 2004? Even a ball park figure would be nice.........

Really? I popped by the local Guitar Center here and they had two of 'em! A copperhead Sterling and StingRay. I tried the Sterling out. Mighty fine bass! Anyway, wasn't a lot of basses with the copperhead finish bought by GC at a NAMM show or something? A GC exclusive!

The last time I was in the GC here in Dallas about 2 months ago there was a SR4 and a SR5 hanging on the wall. They must have made quite a few of them. Someone posted a pic from their GC a while back and there were 2 EBs hanging in that color.

Hi, all!

I was just thinking that my SR5 should be out there with the rest of your MM basses!

And here she is!
Serial is E32942, possible 2002?
