There is a sparkle black Sterling on eBay right now with a BIN of $799. It appears to be a pawn shop, so buyer beware, as perhaps the condition may not be as good as stated.

FYI, there is quite a nice selection of StingRay 4-stringers out on eBay right now, especially if you're interested in something 1991-ish or older. A nice natural finish/rosewood, a couple of vintage sunburst/maples, a black/maple, a trans teal and a couple others IIRC. 2- and 3-banders are represented... oldest one I saw goes back to 1977!

Doesn't mean he'll get anywhere near that of course, and I hope he doesn't. I realize it's an open market and all that but something about this sort of opportunism doesn't sit easily with me.
