less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your guitar...

Hell no, that bass is cool as hell, and you don't see them every day, for sure.

Red face

I didn't mean to sound too defensive there... just really excited about this bass.

Its my first Sterling, my first EBMM at that. I'm gonna post some personal pics and hopefully soundclips when it arrives.

Its a nice bass, however the line
"the neck has a special oil coat finish over flamed maple which MM only did for pro-level instruments." is BS. Almost all of the EBMM basses have the oil/wax finish on the neck. Exceptions being the bongo, the sub, and a few others like the stealth models and onyx sterling.

I took that to mean that "flamed maple" was only used on pro instruments. Is that even true?

No. There's no difference in production. All EBMMs are created alike. Even the custom made instruments for artists and BFR instruments are created by the same people in the same factory.

I would say thats not really flamed maple. I have some light flaming on my basses neck and its noticeable. I have seen others that look like they should belong to sigfried and roy they have so much striping (like a tiger).
From what I gather whether its flamed or not is just a matter of whichever piece of wood is at the top of the pile when they make that neck. I have never seen a single EBMM price list that has an upcharge for "flamed neck" and from what I understand there are not a lot of artist custom models.
There is that guy with the 3 string stingray and that one bassist that had them redo the bridge?
