Welcome to the forum!

I think the answers to your questions are no and no. I think EBMM has put their foot down on the design of the Bongo and about figured tops.

I don't really have a need or a want of a 6 string, but nonetheless, proto's look interesting.

I just GOTTA say that one of these in an unlined fretless could get me all squidgy inside.

Hey, Trane. Slumming, are we? Good to see you here, no matter how or why you ended up here!

And I remember BP's answer to those questions, too. I don't think the word filters will let me repeat it on the forum.

I played it, though, and thought it was....a guitar.

Slumming? I'd never be caught doing such a thing. I am a person of breeding and sofistykayshun I'll have you know.

I know it's an odd thing to have a non-EBMM-playing member around, but I DID try a fretless Sterling last summer and loved it. I've no doubt it's only a matter of time before I have something made by this company. Do surely do like the cut of its jib.

Wow, great to see you here, Trane. Speaking for myself, I surely do like the cut of your jib!

But back to the Bongo 6. This is really a fascinating evolution and it's great to see the development of the new instrument. I am quite taken with Bongos and it's really cool to see the line expanding like this.

Thanks, Sterling and the engineering team and welcome from another new member, Trane.

Thank'y, ma'am.

Fretless Bongo 6. Gads. And to see the stuff coming straight off the design board is just stunning.

Oh well. I'm sure it will still be a fantastic bass. I hope my local guitar center will have one or two in stock.

thanks for the welcome

ROTFL! Don't pith in my pool an' I promise not to puce in your toilet. I'll even avoid stringing together the words "Heinz coloured Sterling". Well, most of the time, at least. (I side with Jack on liking Heinz just fine.)

Darn, I'm feeling at home already.

The sordid story is that I've known a number of the fine members here for a few years. Hang out with 'em long enough and you start hearing "Go on, Trane, try the 'Ray. You know you want to." Next thing I knew, I was sad that Jack couldn't sell me a Bongo way over here in Japan. (For the record, my wife wasn't sad.)

When I saw this thread, I couldn't remain a lurker. I'm very impressed that you'd share the design process on a new instrument.

Careful, Trane. I have a feeling that a fretless Stingray, Sterling, or Bongo could quickly be in your future if you hang around here. You have been warned.
