What wood would that be?

I would guess basswood because

a) it's one of the lighter (weight) woods

b) that's what other bongos are made of.

What I mean is, what wood would that be to give that white colour especially if it is raw and unfinished?

You can see the mineral stains that (IIRC) are characteristic of basswood on one of the bodies.

The lightness on the built prototype, I would imagine, is entirely down to lighting. I may be wrong.

I have a dining table in the same finish as the proto. I would hazard a guess that it is a white wax finish and not a raw and unfinished at all.

Hey BP, just as well I'm not a betting man then! That raw basswood is great.....I'll take one!

No pickguard option please.....this Bongo doesn't need it.

I dig the Bongo 6, and will buy one, however, I think a StingRay 6 in Sunburst would be sooooooo sweet!

Bongo6 Prototype #2

Ok, here it is- Bongo6 #2. This HS version has hand wound pickups that were made by cutting some Bongo5 covers in 3/5ths and fusing them back together. This newbie also has a wider bridge plate than the original protos.

We are currently playing with some different body and neck woods to improve the balance of the instrument. If all goes well, we should have some with paint and pickguards in the next couple of weeks.
