You could always take up the harpsichord...

LOL

Believe it or not I have a pump organ from the 1800's in my Victorian parlor. Can't play it but it looks great.

BTW, I love your portrait!

Thats awesome looking. What do you think the weight of that will be ? Does increasing the body have to do with balancing the neck ? I've never hung one on, but I've held them and they seem pretty balanced.

All of our stuff is balanced and the thought behind the increase is to visually make sure it is in proportion and possible to balance the wseight

It is such a priviledge to see these designs as they come about. Thanks a million. However, I have a hard enough time with 4 strings let alone a 6 string bass!

I am looking at getting a 5 banger though....I have to get in the pool slowly....

Do it! But beware, that low B may grow on you quite quickly.

I'm still in the learning process with my SUB5, but my fingers are starting to work together better.

I have ordered the body to be increased by 2-3%...we will se that one next....
I really appreciate the fact that you post the early designs and prototypes BP. I'm studying engineering and design and I love seeing how the initial concept is modelled, tweaked and transformed into the finished product that hits the shelves.

I wouldn't dream of offering any opinion or comment because a) I don't know that much about playing the bass (or guitar for that matter) b) Instrument design is no-where near my area of work knowledge and c) you guys do a damn fine job of it yourselves.

Keep up the great work guys

I'm pretty much a 4 string player (& a Bongo lover)--however, I have to say that I like 6ers more than 5ers--the high C doesn't disorient me as much as the low B. For me 5s & 6s are all about lateral movement more than the expanded range--from what you've shared so far, I'd be really interested in moving laterally around that thing.

heh
I have no use whatsoever for that thin C string, but that Bongo 6 appeals to me anyway
Just the thought of me walking on stage with six strings, the audience going "nooo waaaaaayyyy" yould be soo cool

make it whatever string spacing, whatever everything really, I'll adapt

Must.... have..... 6 string...... Bongo.

I will be buying one of these for sure unless the neck is as wide as a 2x6.

Wow, I've really been kinda itching for a 5-string Bongo, but if this is coming I think I'll have to wait to pull that trigger.

Thanks for the cool early view! I like it.

I have a feeling that it's going to be a while before you get to actually buy one.

Like maybe a year.

Maybe more.

But what do I know?

Bupkis, that's what.

Thanks for the look at the design process, BP! I'm sure it will turn out great!
