Being an almost completely bass-centric type, I really appreciate what one of the Dallas GCs has done.

Loads of guitars and basses are out of the floor, as usual, but there is an actual bass room that can be (relatively) closed off from the floor. Inside, the nicer basses and a couple of decent rigs are available for demo. This was not strictly an Ernie Ball playground, either. There was a Rickenbacker, a Warwick and so on.

I appreciate the cost that went into the room and I know it takes labor to maintain it, but it makes all the difference in the world to someone like me. In fact, Marty, don't tell BP, but I've bought a couple of, um, you know, THINGS there.

It might be tough to do it in all the locations, but in a multi-GC city like Dallas and the surrounding area, that's the one I go to, even if it's further away than some others.

I would say Markbass as well (St. Louis). But I think this is more of a Markbass production problem getting them out the door. Still, with all the Markbass talk around here it sure makes you want to try them out.

well...i know one offs are not gonna happen.......so...

as a service to gc customers.... how bout a guitar and bass tweek station at the storefront. a place where anyone could get a quick tweek / evaluation of there current guitar. an ernie ball gas station.....kinda like a jiffy lube for guitars and basses. limit to quik string change & truss rod tweek. 10-15 mins ? customer just buys strings......& gets qualified for new instrument if appropriate.

Oh wise genie of the amp, I wish that....

That when I walk in, the sales staff (most notably in the bass section) consists mainly of persons who know their products better (I don't even mind the goth, multiple pierced kid I usually get as long as he knows his basses). They should at least know what all the knobs and switches do on their basses, the woods, etc. Pretty basic stuff.

Oh, and more selection of flatwound bass strings besides Fender and Dean.

My biggest thing I'd like to see is color selection with a few more models, not just EBMM but in all lines.
We have 6 GC's, here and they all have the same exact 1 model/color bass.
example: SR4 sunburst /rosewood, and SR4 HH in charcoal/rosewood, Sterling HS natural/maple. And when they sell that one, they hang the exact color/model again in it's place, so every kid in town now has the same bass.
Same with the other brands.

When I bought my guitarist a (am std) Strat for his birthday, I was very limited in color choices for him.

I think it would be great for GC's to have a Public computer in store that is on-line and available for customers to log onto manufacture's websites. This can be set up in a kiosk type of setitng and could be considered the GC Info center and hub, they could even have it linked to dealer inventory. With the many products and instruments that GC carries its tough to for the salesman to know every spec on every instrument(available colors, woods, configuarations...etc...etc) So it would be a great tool to have an in-store reference center that allows you access to manufactures websites.

To have someone on staff as knowledgeable about the EBMM line as the Fenders, Gibsons etc. Not just someone who can go to a computer and look up make model and color... When I bought my 20th, the sales person didn't have a clue about anniversary anything and I had to pretty much walk him through the details.

I tried to make a difference at my local GC but was turned down. They apparently only hire full-time commisioned salespeople.

I heard Marty talk in Dallas about the high employee turnover and mentioned this to him, he offered to set me up, but I never followed up on the offer since I sort of felt that I was imposing on him by asking during an EBMM sponsored event.

I know it's tough to find, train and retain employees that are up on every line, but there should be someone who makes it their responsibility to know a certain product line inside and out and handle all requests for that line.

I don't know how realistic this is, but....

How about opening up a store or two or three in the UK? I usually read the whinge threads about GC with amazement... I'd love for GC to exist in this country.

I second that emotion! I was gonna venture to GC San Bernadino yesterday. I honestly was going to purchase a new acoustic. I had made up my mind. Got on the freeway and decided to turn around before I got to whitewater. Too many RV's, trailers, boats and big boy toys heading back from holiday weekend.

Mine has been stated, and even spoken of by Bp. Just simply inventory, my local store (larchmont) is just 20 mins north of nyc and besides the luke i ordered 2 yrs ago i've probably seen less then 8 eb guitars....i went there just today and they had zippo.

On a side note, if any of u bass players r interested though they did have 6 stingrays, 1 being a 30th.
