DI Box

How many of you have used the Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum Bass preamp/DI? I hear favourable stuff about it.

I used an old Fishman (standard) DI for a couple of years (until my old gutairist lifted it) and loved it... good, clean, uncolored tone. If you are looking for something that add s tube warmth the new Ampeg box is suppose to be the s#@@t! A good friend of mine in Columbus got one of the first ones out an loves it!

Can you give me the specific model for the Ampeg? Thanks for the reply. I stumbled upon the Fishman ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW ) a while ago while surfin' the net to ease my GAS.

Right now, I've got a lousy ProCo CB-1 DI Box that has a light buzz whenever I play low notes. I'm guessing this was actually made for a guitar or something.

Well as Psychicpet once correctly told me, you can always sell if not more, at least at the same price you bought it. These items are very sought after and several people can't wait that much time for Avalon to ship them.

Hm... Well, thanks for the suggestions, guys. I think I'll go with the Fishman for now. The Avalon is, like I said, way too expensive and I'm not willing to be the victim of some greedy man's interest scheme. Maybe when I'm rollin' in the big bucks I'll bag me an Avalon!

I suggest then that you will choose the Countryman DI. By all means. It is one of the best. Or the Radial JDV.Man you should buy somethin' that is top of the range. Good gear will never let you down.

Manta, can you tell me more about the Countryman DI? I would like to hear more about it and your opinion of how it works for you.

Yep. Though I borrowed one once and now I'm going to buy an Avalon U5.

It is a very quiet DI and very accurate that maintains the presence of your bass. While I've seen again silent DIs, you felt that the signal had no balls. The countryman doesn't alter your sound. It just makes sure that you are heard accurately and have presence in the mix. Also it is built like a Kalashnikov. For hard core use. The one I borrowed had gaffa tape all around but it was working perfectly. It is a really cool piece of gear and at a great price when compared with DIs like Avalon, Anthony deMaria, Radial, Summit Audio, Groove tubes etc.
