ICMP/Musicman Scholarship Winner

Every year Musicman sponsors one Higher Bass Diploma Scholarship course offered by The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance based in north London. This Higher Diploma course lasts one year and is offered Free to any bass player that wants to apply for this Scholarship Course. From an initial entry of numerous bassists, 8 finalists are selected.
The final competition took place on Tuesday August 19th at the ICMP school and I was privileged to be asked to help judge. The 8 finalists had to be interviewed and give a live performance.
All finalists gave a good account of themselves and there was some great playing including 3 guys playing 6 string basses.
The winner of the Full Bass Scholarship was Shaun Lee from London.
There was a second prize of a partial scholarship won by Luke Capon from Essex.
All finalists were presented with Ernie Ball goody bags containing strings and other
EB goodies.

That's cool news. I've been up there to meet all the team, Terry is a really inspirational guy. I'm thinking of applying for the higher deploma next year and the degree course afterwards (I'll probably apply to a couple of other london music academies too, i.e. Brit School, ACM). This musicman sponsorship is really exciting. The institute really stood out to me as an amazing place to further my musical knowledge and improve my playing. I really hope I can get in.
