Talking today the bfr came!

and here are my first impressions:

*the box was HEAVY! i struggled a bit to handle it with one hand

*the case made me grin from ear to ear.. hehe.. brown crocodile exterior with champagne brown (or perhaps sequoia) interior. just the appearance of the case is awesome
they have also added a small pad at the end of the case where the strap-pin is attached. smart move because that strap-pin will break the case if dropped too hard...

*the bass is a bit shaped like an evh/axis.. the top is flat with creme binding all the way around, and the back is painted black.. still the usual sr4 shape we all love

*the mahogany neck has a hint of flaming in it.. ill have to see it in daylight before i know for sure

*acoustically the bass is alive! ALIVE! its even more resonant than my bongo!

*the mahogany neck has lacquer finish, but that is not an issue for me. im used to it from the 30th sr4's

*the top is really a sight!! you feel the presence of old old old wood in there and the grain is standing out very clearly. actually so clearly you can see a burl kind of shape on the top.. just like a lock of curly hair.. for those who has seen my picture you surely understand why i feel like there is a part of me stored in that bass.. under the laquer.. forever

pictures to come, im too tired to do anything right now...

MrM

less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your guitar...

Might be a few months before you see daylight.

Congrats, man. I'm envious and can't wait to see those pics.

If a Redwood StingRay plays in a forest and noone is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

Beautiful bass, MrM!!! Enjoy!
