Tested out a Bongo today...
Tested out a bongo today and whenever I tried to double thumb I kept hitting the volume knob with my knuckles and turning the volume down.
I love the bass but that is definitely a problem for me. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks, John |

I can't say I have, sorry, but it's one of those things that you will probably adjust to as second nature, that bass is so naturally ergonomic to play that once you own it for one day you'll feel immediately at home with. I've just checked mine against the stingray and the volume knobs are placed in almost the same spot. I think the difference is minimal as in the pic below:

I played a Stingray 4 H also and had no problem with the volume knob
I don't know what it was, but my hand seemed really cramped on the bongo It's really upsetting because I really like it |

if it was a double humbucker version the space to actually slap/pop in is limited compared to a single pickup version.. could be the limiting factor
![]() also, you could loosen the knob off the volumepot. then cut out something with a little friction in it (eg a rubber ring from a plumbers store.. or similar) over the shaft and then put the knob back on, making sure it squezed the friction material a little bit against the body. not too tight though or you might damage the pot ![]() MrM

Were you sitting down on some uncomfortable chair or step? Did you actually try it standing up with a strap on? (those of you with a dirty mind, don't get excited I mean the guitar strap on
)It could be a number of things, maybe you were nervous about trying something different, sometimes that concept plays with your head in wanting you to find something wrong when there actually is nothing wrong, from the pic I gave you above the stingray, if anything has the knobs a little more spread out than the bongo, and actually if you stand them up side by side the volume on the stingray is slightly higher than the one on the bongo, without offences intended, I think it's all in your head. Really no one else here has complained about that before.

yeah I was sitting down with it
I was at bass central in the Orlando area it might have been nerves or something all those killer basses their and I felt like I couldn't play any cool riffs lol but one thing i noticed is if you line the basses up by end of their neck then the knob is higher on the bongo because when I double thumb, my thumb comes down on the end of the neck so that's where you need to compare by http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w...rrent=bass.jpg Last edited by johnmcarrii; 11-13-2009 at 07:38 PM. |
