In praise of GK's Neo 112 II...

Hey Guys,
I just picked up a Gallien Krueger Neo 112 II. GC was having a sale and I just couldn't pass it up. So far this little bugger is doing great! I had a 4 ohm 2x10 custom cab which I was running my GK 400RBIV into at 280 watts and this cab at 8 ohms seems just as loud. Speaker sensitivity I guess? But it sounds amazing, warm but with great sparkling highs and very punchy. It made my 2x10 sound like it had pillows in front of it! Guess I'll have to pick up another to have a mini stack!

Yes! A GK bass head and two matching cabs! Purchasing all the same brand looks and sounds integrated.

It will be great having the option of using one or two cabs. GO FOR IT!

There's nothing "mini" about how that stack's going to sound!

The GK 400RBIV is my favorite head that they make and I've always loved 12's for bass; they're bigger than 10's but smaller than 15's. They're ideal for bass.

GET ANOTHER CAB WHILE THEY'RE STILL ON SALE! If they don't have another one in stock have them get/order you another one at the same price. Feel free to thank me for this advice now, if you like.

i have had the pleasure of trying the 2x12 neo combo and that baby sure made fretless basses sing

that warm but yet hifi-ish tone with sweet highs, controlled lows and punchy mids is awesome. i like the way those neodymium speakers sound

trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your guitar...

My gig rig is a 700RBII + 2 GK NEO 112 Series I cabs. I like it a lot! I always get compliments about my tone and even some about the way it looks! lol! Plus, I can carry each cab with 1 hand!

After throwing my back out 2 years ago lugging an AmpegPR410HLF, I decided to try out the GK NEO's based on name and what few reviews I found at the time. Bought both of mine used. Very happy with them both sonically and physically!

As SitOnMyBass said, there's nothing 'mini' about it! I've owned them for a couple of years and have never run the Woofer volume at noon or above! Heck, our gig last week, I had the volume at 7-8:00. I normally run it at 9-10:00 but the soundguy kept asking me to turn it down!

I know that's why I'm wondering if I should pick up another. I'm not gigging and I can't believe the volume I'm getting with just one cab.But boy it would be so cool to have two! President's Day is coming up and there are usually some good sales. Who knows, ya know?

You're not gigging NOW, but who knows? You may pick up a gig next month, next 6 months, next year....

I wasn't gigging yet when I bought my first GKNEO112. I was still putting my rig together and had just joined a rock cover band. At the time I was running the GK head, 1 GKNEO112 and an Avatar NEO210.

Then I bought the Ampeg, threw my back out and sold it ASAP!

Didn't really plan on adding another 112 because I was very happy with the GK+Avatar combination, but ran across a used deal on my 2nd NEO112 and grabbed it!

If you can afford it and it's a good deal, why not grab another one.

Hey, rappa29!

Still hoping to see you here locally at a "Stormbringer" gig so we can meet and talk shop.

I'm glad to hear this setup is working for you - I was thinking about the 700RBII with a pair of 112's or a 212 cab.

The 212 is getting good reviews from people that have played them on provided backlines.
