A Tale of Two Brothers

One brother is in Jersey. The other is in Texas. They are both gear heads and collect stuff. While comparing their stuff they realized that independently they had come up with a matched set! One has the 1x18 cab and the other the head. The grill cloth color is off only due to local lighting. This is a composite picture for fun. I saw it and thought folks out here might like it for a fun view. Just sharing - hope it is OK.

They already decided that. The guy getting it has a 62 Jazz to plug into it. We need to get him to upgrade to a Bongo HH Dargie :-)

possibly a dumb question....isn't that a guitar head, and bass cab? Does that matter?

I have an MM HD-130 guitar amp that I've run bass thru at low volume in a pinch before....but is it ideal for bass, especially given the bass cab?

At 130 watts - I would hope that you can dial in what you want. I am not a gear expert - but a lot of the amps back then were same for bass and guitar but they added the reverb and stuff. Like - the Traynor tube amps for bass are now sought after by guitar players.

Me - I am a solid state guy (well - maybe tube front is OK like the 4-Pro) and in that world "voicing" plays a lot. But I am not sure if that is the same in the tube world.

It's the speakers that you probably need to be concerned about. Guitar speakers aren't voiced nor designed to handle loud bass frequencies. In addition, bass speakers typically have a higher power rating than most guitar speakers and they are, of course, designed to handle the lower frequencies. At a low to moderate volume you should be okay, but don't push too much volume or low end through them. It also depends on what your "band volume" is.

The bottom line is, however, that I don't recommend playing through a guitar rig. If you must, be cautious in regards to your use of it.
