Last Night - Leal + Mesa F50 = Nirvana!!

Last night I went along to a local jam night armed with my trusty LEAL (floating Trem) and Mesa F50. A couple of guys wanted to get up and play but one of them was held up on business.

In the crowd was a bass player and drummer who I played in a band with for a long time many years ago.
So we had a quick discussion and played an old number we used to do - Willin' by Little Feat - me on vocals. I wished I'd had my BCB AL and AER 'cos it would have been perfect for that number.

Had a great reception from the crowd and I unplugged my guitar and made my way back to my buddies. The crowd wanted more!! - so I panicked thinking What the F am I gonna play now and sing - so we started off doing Rote #66 in a swing tempo and then hotted it up.

After finishing the number I had quite a few people come up to me saying it was good to see me back treading the boards and the sound I had was sweet. My mate on the table was a sound engineer for John Henrys in London and he says what he thinks - he said that the AL and F50 were amazing!!

I didn't use any effects just set up channel 2 of the Mesa with more "oomph" and gain.

Can't wait to do it again but won't be able to get there for 2 - 3 weeks.

Ahhh - memories of gigging !!! (there's still life in the ol' dog yet !!

Spud,

If you give 'em weed, whites and wine - anything will sound good to 'em

Sounds like a lot of fun

Did your brother ever get the wipes?

It's always a great pleasure having a great sound live... I'm glad you found your tone!
I actually tried the AL + F50 combination a few months ago and it sounds fantastic!

Cool Ivan - I guess there aren't many AL's in your parts?

The F50 was set at a pretty low volume - it blows my Marshall 50 out of the water.

Pug it was funny the other week - there was an awesome acoustic player and when I opened my case he said "Wow an Albert Lee - cool!!"

I've been going to a local jam night but i'm not enjoying it too much.
Gear is mostly rubbish.
I've been taking my Supersport, most folk there have strats and first time I went I didn't know about it and I played a strat... I ended song by adamantly explaining how much i dont like strats!

Its a total lie I love them.. but they have to be to my spec and needs.

I got asked in a sort of disagreeing disgusted tone... "well what do you play then if you hate strats?... Jackson? Ibanez?....."
I was very surprised cos i was reall expecting LP...

I said "nah dude... i've got taste "
Then I backtracked in my mind because i thought "good god hes gonna think i mean PRS"...nooo

It disgusts me though how many people when I am out playing with my EBMM guitars have never even heard of them. Just ignorance of the majority of the guitar playing world I suppose. It amuses me sometimes when they think its a cheapy too...cos it don't say Fender or Gibson on its little 4+2.

Not into usin other folks gear at all tho, I don't have a suitable amp for taking along so I kinda get stuck with what they have. Mostly BOSS Multi-FX into solid state amps. One of guys had a PODXt Live at one point though i could have fiddled with that but the BOSS things just bewilder me, mainly because I think they are horrid devices to begin with.

Oh man for the simplicity of guitar, nice little hot valve amp, decent PA and your just showing off now with a sound guy...

hehhe snobs!
