It sounds like any electric guitar to me!
To be honest all these demos tend to sound very similar to me. I'm sure via a state of the art recording system, played back on the 4000 pound hi-fi system I rarely use these days I might get a better idea....but via the computer or the ipod headphones?
Are everybody's ears just way better than mine or do you all use a much better listening system?

Hell hath no fury like Beth & the stifness !

Beth & the stiffness, you guys are amazing, even when I sleep you're looking out for me,

Andy - Yeah, I ain't Stevie Ray, I ain't Lucious, I ain't albert, I ain't even serious!
- BUT read my original post, this is just to let you hear what a BFR sounds like, as at time of posting there was NOTHING out there. - I personally see and feel a HUGE difference in a BFR over a regular stock item, however stock models are still out of this world, yeah it's not possible to give you a greased demo - but why would you want one, studios put all sort of crap on the final thing, surely you want raw tone ? -

I also said it's just till somebody like Rob comes along and puts out something better, think of me as the warm up act. - Surely if you're still living in spain you won't exactly have 300000000000 music shops to just nip into to checkout a bfr ??? - Lighten up fella, Smelly is trying to do a public service anouncement.

Colinboy, kind words my friend, but i think the only thing I'll beat the devil at is combing my hair !!(Sorry Devil, cheap shot, I'll get you a beet in 09!) - His Devilness Rocks!

Everybody else, 240 views on you tube for an AMAZING guitar making a 100quid amp sounds like silk - and not the other way about! - and 2 5 star comments (Thanks Mum & Dad!) - very kind words again, you're all invited round my house for tea, Beth and the stifness get pudding too

Smelly loves ya!

I was misunderstood by one and all. NO criticism of Smelly intended in any way....just a question of trying to hear different guitar tones via this system.
Have seen loads of demos, including one of the 20th and the differences don't seem to come across for me via computer
On here last week Whitestrat posted a demo and invited others to guess what it was, most guessed a 20th Silo with HH and a mohogany block. Turned out to be a S/C AL.
So, my question again...can everyone else REALLY hear all these tonal differences, if so
1, Have my ears been ruined by years of loud music
or
2.Is everyone else using much better computer speakers than I do?

Don't think I really deserved the snide comments from the usually helpful CS, I appreciate the efforts in trying to demo the guitars

Andy, on a technical level of course I'd (and prolly everyone) would agree with you. However, I don't think hi fidelity audio reproduction was foremost on Smelly's agenda when he made this flick.

In fedelity - ? is that when the hifi doesn't work?

Andy- I can hear a difference and I'm guessing that in tandem with these nice folk taking pitty on me - (Anyone who'd publish this on the internet must be damaged in some way!) - but I assume that at least one other hears the difference, the onyl way you'll feel it is trying a BFR and a regular and doing a A/B - when I first played this BFR -it was at the bash, and it wasn't plugged in - it was at that point I knew I'd have it - and it had to be that one (evil laugh goes here)

If you don't take my word for it that these sound good, and you don't hear it ask yourself the following question - why would I lie?

  • Despite my boyish good looks I am not Sterling Ball's love child
  • Although Beth and the Stiffness ruhed to my defence, they were in keeping with spirit of the thread, they weren't being harsh, if you want to shout at anyone stick with me- till Koogie shows up! !
  • I am not an employee of EBMM trying to sell you something
  • I am not on commission (Unless made an offer on this thread c'mon poppa you know you want to !)
  • I am not a professional guitar player seeking a deal
  • I am in a remote part of the world and spend a tonne of money on this guitar, I cannot be the only person on the planet in this situation my video is to let others hear it so that they may get one mail order or whatever allowing them to panic less about their purchases, and I also get to expose myself playing - where i live I can't get a gig, there are less than 10 gigging bands within a 30 mile radius, musicians are in short supply, so I chose the digital age and do my perfomances online - back to thread....

Trust me, and at the end of the day unless you go to a shop with a regular modeal and BFR that's all you have....

Peace
Smelly.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Finally I video clip of a BFR AL. I enjoyed that man. We all feel like we could be better players and that we could have better tone and although those statments from us are true most of the time I can say this. I enjoyed your video; you and the AL sounded awsome.

I'm sorry, Andy. We were making light of your comment about not being able to hear the nuances of the mahogany tone block and AL pickups on a video that was done for fun. It's kind of been a Downer Debbie week, so that was just the perfect opportunity to drop a "Wah waaaaaah" on you. I'm sorry.
