Exclamation YouTube took my video down.

YouTube took my video cover of The Wind Cries Mary down friday afternoon?
Copyright issues which I get

But out of all the Thousands of cover on youtube of hendrix that have been up for years my get taken down after 2 weeks?

Has this happened to anyone else here?

I covered a new song by Kenny Chesney but this time did not play the song note for note as I did with the Hendrix cover.
Especially the solo section.

Sorry to hear that, John. No idea what made yours any different, copyright wise, than the thousands of other cover tunes on youtube, other than yours was actually good.

I think if enough people flag it then it will come down.

Are you playing a JSX?

That sucks John. At least I got a chance to check it out. You're not selling the song, just showing all how you play it. Doesn't make sense to me either.

Well John, maybe it's a compliment.
You played it too good.
You really nailed it.

I only play portions of songs on YouTube so I'm not doing covers (in my opinion).
Also, my mediocre playing is not going to threaten anyone's copyright. No one in their right mind is going to play my version in preference to the original artist's version. lol
In fact, listening to my "rendition" will most likely encourage the listener to buy the original version - so they can hear how it's supposed to sound.

JD, perhaps the problem was that you played the song too well.

Trouble was John, yours wasn't a "tab induced version" - it was played with true feel.

Treat it as another compliment that they took it off.

The knack is not to mention the original artist. I have 3 or 4 versions of 'Brown Eyed Girl', but the one where I mentioned 'Van Morrison' got removed.

Kenny Chesney Better As A Memory YouTube Cover

Well I did get a follow up email from the Hendrix camp...
And yes it was because of the use of the original recording in the background
and that fact I tried to get every note like the original did not help me at all!

I understand 100% and respect there choice to take it down...
But I also see another side to it that it may have brought new fans to Jimi Hendrix..
You know younger players that may never have heard The Wind Cries Mary...

This new Video cover of Kenny Chesney was a dedication to a very sick little girl who asked me if I could cover her favorite song 'Better As A Memory"

So I did.
