94 AL - no problem - infact if people had guitars from different years then they could post their neck profiles - the more the merrier.

A smorgasbord of necks !!!

I've also requested bass guitar neck profiles from the EB Bass forum

Spud, I'll do the Bongo 5, and maybe the SR5 and SR4 too (my brother plays 4-bangers)
But I think we could use a 17:th fret measurement too, that'll be a real eye opener on the Bongo 6 if my hands remember correctly.

Course we'll make the rules as we go along, don't we always;-)
Bongo 5 measured, but I'll probably have to wait until tuesday to scan.

If I could find one of these instruments, I'd help with the Silhouette and JP bits... Lemme go raid my local hardware store to see.

That would be cool by me - maybe we can arrange something via PM.

NorM has sent me loads of pictures of the the profile guage (without transposing the profiles to card - but he was VERY quick in replying to me)

Wanna see them???

Heck yea we want to see them. I started the take a side profile pic of your neck thread and it did not get alot of responses but I am glad this one is. i will eventually get around to doing good old rosewood. I once heard that the guitars with Rosewood fret are a tad bit thicker. Don't know it it's true of not but an interesting idea.

My local hardware store didnŽt have any profile gauges, so I tried another method.

I protected the back of the neck with plastic wrap and made some imprints with gypsum which were traced onto paper after dried.

the result is probably not as acurate as with the profile gauge but you might get an idea of the difference (or similarity) between the necks. Strange but true: Morse and Silo look similar but to me they feel very different.

I think it would be great if someone could redo it properly with a profile gauge !

Wow good one - a "plaster caster" huh?

It looks great when they are all together so you can see the comparisons in the neck.

I'm going to go find one of these and confirm if there IS a difference (which I think there is in terms of dimensions) between a Silhouette and Silhouette Special neck profiles.
