Graphtech my Silhouette special
What size saddles do I need ?
I've measured the E to E on my trem at 54mm, but none of the Graphtechs are that size ! I've got a set of the 6000's but there's a gap between the D and G strings when fitted. This means the saddles move a round when I'm digging in hard. HELP !!!!!!

I would buy the soliid steel saddles that MM sells, they are the same saddles that are used on the axis supersports, they sound better IMO, if your really into the graphtechs you need to get the vintage strat ones I believe -

How do I get these solid saddles ?
Are they sold seperately ?? I simply hate the feel and tone of the standard pressed saddles, Graphtech isn't important, just want to swap the original ones.

call MM customer service and they will send them out to you, I have them on my silo special and I had the graph tech ones on there first, the steel sounds way better, more attack - if you wanna see what they look like I think that flgman has a pic of my guitar with them on -

Yeah, definitely +1 on the original bent-steel saddles.
Tried the Graphtechs once and absolutely did NOT like what dampened sound came outa my guitar...

I use them on all my guitars. The ones I have are the PS-8000-00.

I have Graphtech saddles and nut on my Fender Classic 60ies Strat. The sound does change, but I like it. It's a little smoother sounding, and I think the sustain increases slightly too. When I have some money again I will fit them on my Silo special too.

Axilla man, I think lock-ny was talking about the solid steel saddles on the AxisSS for instance. The Silo Spec already has the bent steel $strat type saddles, as you know. Solid like these....

I put the Graphtec string saver saddles on my Silo Spec. I personally did not notice much of a difference in the sound. I have broke one string since I had them installed, so the jury is still out on the "string saver" concept. However, it's been two months since I broke that string... that's better than the average time in between broken strings before I installed them.
Another plus is that the graphite saddles are much more comfortable if you rest your picking hand on the bridge when playing. I forget which model I got, but their Customer Service was helpful in choosing the right one.

I have had the Graphtech saddles and nut on my silsp, and axis sport, for over 6 years now....no string breaks..slightly smoother sound, and no irritating little bites from the saddle screws....I changed the hardware in question because I thought it was necessary...I have other EBMM guitars with the original equipment and won*t touch them till I have to....If it aint broke...don*t fix it.

use nut sauce or other lubricant on the bridge (and nut) regularly and you will cut down on string breakage and have better tuning.
