Well BP, this leads me to a question.
Let's say I don't sand down the headstock. I leave it natural, and I don't touch it. It still has your logo on it, attached to my homemade and restored body. Couldn't that still potentially reflect upon you and the company?

Granted, were I ever to sell the guitar (highly unlikely)I would surely include all of the details that this thread has already seen. It's already been very clearly pointed out that I'm a detailed man when it comes to the sale of items, and a restoration project, finished or otherwise, is something I would never want to hide, especially since it's something I intend on being proud of when it's done. Like Spud mentioned, I now intend on having the neck plate engraved with the finish date and my name.

Regardless, is there ANY way you could work with me on this? I really feel having the logo (sans John's signature)would really help to complete this guitar.

I had spoken to Dan McPherson prior to starting the project, and he had insured me that in order to obtain the logo again, I'd have to send in the entire guitar, and it would have to leave with the same finish it originally had. Naturally this wasn't an option for me, so I figured provided I don't alter the logo or try to pass the guitar off as something it's truly not, there would be no harm.

Like I said, I understand your position, but I also hope you understand mine and might be able to help me out here. As a fan if absolutely nothing else, I'm a big lover of the EB company as a whole, and would never want to shed bad light. Truth be told, if the project came out poorly, I wouldn't bother putting the logo on it until it were right, anyway.

Anyway, like I said, I hope maybe we can figure something out. The guitar won't feel complete without it (to me).

Not sure i'd plan to replace the logo if you refinish the headstock.

Keep it personalised; hell, you could even sign it yourself to tag your own refinish!

The argument that the logo would be on a project guitar if you left the headstock alone, so there's no harm putting it back on if you refinish the headstock seems flawed in that it assumes EB is fine with the logo being on in the first example, and not fine with it in the second. Something tells me they'd rather the logo not be there either way, but they can't exactly walk into your house and sand it off if you choose not to touch the headstock, ya know?

If my opinion counts, I vote in favor of a replacement logo for the resurrected and restored JP.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate that.
Did I mention that I wanted to buy one from the company without the JP signature? lol
I'd still like to buy one without the signature...I'd rather have the real deal from the company than have to make my own anyway.

OK We gave you fair warning before you started and now you are asking again...Im really happy that you have this project and am sure you will do a good job and would not misrepresent it if you sold it...but will the next seller have your integrity.....

Lets stop the rallying and arguing....Its a call that we made earlier and it really shouldnt be a surprise that it is the same call....

Enjoy the guitar!

Ouch!

Naturally it wasn't my intention to piss ANYONE off, but apparently I'm good at that. Tell ya what...I'm done posting chit chat except for this last post. All business from now on. Fair?

But just to make sure I was understood properly, when I said;

I meant I didn't figure there would be any harm in making my own, or getting one made. Naturally, my thought WAS; it's the EBMM logo on an EBMM guitar...my mistake I guess.

Thanks for your time anyway.

This thread is getting to where I need to mentally prepare myself every time I click it, it's like a trip to the dentist or something. Hopefully things calm down a bit now.

Why don't you just paint over the logo and have John sign a bigger signature where the logo was in silver pen and then lacquer over that? That would be totally cool.
