Sterling: 4 string Fretless w/mutes.
Serial #:38434

I bought this in 2001 in Detroit used with mostly $1 bills that I made from the tip out percentage I would get from the girls when I was working at Gentleman's clubs as security. I would love to get some info. about DOB and how many of these gems were produced. I would like to replace the pickup, as there is oxidization on the posts (minimal, but there). Any advice about which p.u. to buy would be appreciated. Also, what would I use to shine up the tuning keys (dull coating develpd over the years)?

Interesting story! $1 bills .... hmmm. Well, the only pickup to buy would be an original Sterling, but to do that please contact me at dan@ernieball.com ... as far as tuners, not much you can do when the chrome wears off - which sounds like what happened to yours - except buy new tuners. I can help you with that as well.

Oh - and your bass was completed on 9/14/93 and was originally shipped to Atlanta Discount Music.

Dan
