Pickup Pole-spacing
Hi all!
I was planning to try a set of Kinman Blues in my Silhouette Special, and managed to find a 2nd hand set here in Latvia (not so easy il tell ya! ).A bit of a happy trigger finger there, bought them without checking the pole-spacing... Grrr... The spacing on the original Dimarzio neck pup is 51,5mm between the outer poles, on the Kinman it is 52,5mm... It might not sound like a lot, 1mm difference, but the spacing on the Kinman just seem too wide, especially as the original is a little widely spaced already (just a tad though)Question: I know some people here has put Fat 50s in their Silos for example, what is the spacing on "standard" strat pups, is it different from the original Dimarzios? I am just wondering if I should bother installing these or not... What do you guys think? JJ P.S. The photo is just for illustration what the problem is, not for exact dimensions...

It shouldn't cause a problem once you get it in the guitar. Worst case scenario, it'd bother you a little bit in the way it looks is all. Pole spacing won't make a difference in tone.

F-spaced pickups measure 2.01" (51 mm) center-to-center from the first polepiece to the sixth. The original DiMarzios are the same 51 mm.
but, I recommend installing them and giving them a go.....

fat fifties are staggerd very poorly. i've found the 1st string is always weak. sometimes.....VERY weak. they were designed for much bigger string gauges of the 50's.
the kinmans are a little on the bright side.....but are very consistant. unless your shooting for something very specific tonewise.....the stock pickups are the best choice. they are designed for the guitar.

If the visual dimensions in the photo are near accurate, I wouldn't use them, nor anything but F spacing.
