Cool! Kim Mitchell is in the EBMM News!

One of my fave guitarists/songwriters/performers has made the news section on the Ernie Ball site (click here to read the article). Just thought it was cool, wanted to share.

My associate Justin set that guitar up. It looks as though Kim likes it! To be honest I have never heard him play, but now I have to find some stuff...Jimi..any recomendations?

Kim Mitchell is one of the most underrated guitarists on the planet. I've had the pleasure of seeing him live on several occasions, and it' usually just him, drummer, and bass (a couple of times w/ keyboard player) and he's amazing. He has fantastic tone and is always up when he plays. I true Road Warrior and I hope everyone here on the board could take a listen to some of his songs sometime. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hey Jon, what's your take on why you don't see as many pro MM guitatrists as opposed to bassists? It would seem to me we would see alot more MM guitatrs on stage than we do.
I've always wondered this.

Flavor of the month...It used to be Les Pauls, now it's PRS. Everybody and their brother owns one now. I think more people would play our guitars if they just tried one. We just need a way to get people in the stores to try them out. Maybe the Benji, and SUB guitars will do that

Alot of the local bands here, mine obviously included, play ebmm guitars and bases. In fact, Monty's Fan Club, on the EB stage on the Warped Tour, got free guitars and bases. Oh, the jealousy.

Kim Mitchell is serious guitar player my friends. He is one of those players that are one with the guitar. "Harder for them to take a wiz than play the guitar" I would easely sompare him to EVH! as far as a pleasure to watch palying.
And BTW long time colaborator Peter Fredette has a sterling Bass as his main tool

Well Jon, I'm an old-school Mitchell-ite, so I'm heavily into his Max Webster era stuff (late 70's) primarily, but you can pretty much start anywhere. His last two albums - Kimosabe and Itch - are excellent, but the psuedo-avanteguard prog-rock that was Webster is probably best represented by the debut album (sometimes referred to as "Blockheads" in deference to the cover art) and High Class in Borrowed Shoes, with Mutiny Up My Sleeve being a near contender. By Million Vacations the songs were becoming more radio-friendly, but they lost some of their quirky charm in the process. Universal Juveniles is more a Mitchell/Dubois album than a Max Webster album - the band had pretty much self destructed by that point. Hardly matters though, 'cause Kim cannot only play the hell out of a guitar, he can write a great rock'n'roll anthem, and songs like "America's Veins", "Rock'n'Roll Duty" and "Battlescar" still sound killer live and get everybody in the bar rocking hard!

For the record I've seen Kim live more than 20 times, from sold out Arena shows to my highschool (where Juveniles-era Webster did two nights in my senior year)... Also, I (vaguely) knew Pete Ferdette in high school, and had seen him play guitar with a number of local projects long before he (finally) got the gig with Kim.
