New Silo Special = New Family

Hi friends… Finally, I’m in the family with my new silhouette special. I know the rule so you can see the pictures It was my ambition for two years and finally I have it. It is really amazing guitar. I used to play Ibanez RG2550 Prestige since 2004. The previous guitars of mine were also that type of guitars and now I’m in a new era. Comfort and sustain are the best things on this guitar. I doubted too much before I bought but no regret now and I definitely recommend this guitar for everyone who has the idea of getting one.

Actually, I was thinking a maple neck but rosewood made me feel better when I was in the store. The rosewood is little bit heavier than the maple one. Rosewood stays cleaner because maple has no finish or polish. They almost sound the same anyway so I got rosewood.

It had thin sound when I bought it but than I replaced the strings with 10s after a week and what a difference!! 10s made this guitar sound better and better but the single coils on this guitar are still not the best pickups for me. I plan to change singles with cruiser or area 58/61 but I have no idea about the sound I will get. I might put area 61 for both neck and middle or cruisers for both position. I am not sure about the balance of cruiser and area 61 combination but seems ok regarding to data on dimarzio’s web site. The only think I wonder about cruiser is that if it is still bright like a vintage single coil. If yes I will probably go for cruiser for neck position.

The only think I dislike on silo special is the sound when the switch is on middle position. I prefer classical middle single coil sound on this position, not the parallel wiring. I am going to change this wiring in a few months. First I will try to get used to.

Upps, I think I wrote too much for my first post Thank you for reading, and I am waiting for your pickup suggestions.

Silo specials are the best guitars ever! OK, that´s what I think. Real nice guitar. Unlike you I like the middle position wiring. I made it already possible on every strat I owned before. But since I got my SS, there is no more strat in my house. The SS killed them all .
