At one point BP had hired a color Paint selector type person, don't know if she's still there. I'm pretty sure that the paints they use are standard auto industry paints, but I could be wrong.

Let's see: I have a Dargie I, a Dargie II, an Olive Gold, a True Gold and a Teal Pearl - all limited edition and/or discontinued colors.

A good looking and unique bunch. Glad I got them when I did. True Gold with tort - awesome, Olive Gold with Gold Swirl - awesome.

Understand the business decision - it is too bad these colors didn't sell.

Oh - and my car is white!

Really depends. The colors are from various sources, for instance the 6 original Bongo colors (Egyptian Smoke, Graphite Pearl, Sapphire Black, Rolls Burgundy, Desert Gold, and Lava Pearl) were BMW colors. But the final decisions are always left to BP.

Yeah, I would say some of the more interesting colors are customer orders. I think most retailers don't like to stray too far out of the ordinary most of the time - they tend to go with the "tried and true" as they don't want to risk the product sort of sitting around the store too long. Can't blame them I guess. But sometimes they will try cool new colors.

This is what I thought when it happened to my Black Sparkle.

Then again when it happened to my Lava Pearl.
I gotta admit- it was in the back of my head when I ordered my Olive Gold.

Well, not that it matters to the EBMM bottom line, but I walked into my local shop for a set of strings over the summer. I saw the Olive Gold Ray with gold swirl pickguard hanging on the wall that they just got in. Before I even touched it, I knew I would buy it. It was one of those "planets aligning in the solar system" moments. The most awesome colour combo I have ever seen. I'm so glad I bought it. Its my no. 1 now. If it wasn't that colour combo, I wouldn't have even noticed it. I'm clearly a minority! Sorry to see these colours go but business is business and new things come along. I'm waiting to order one of the Classic models as soon as they're avaiable.

In every forum, there's always a post that turns a lurker into a member... this is mine; glad to be here.

The other day, I went to music-man.com to check the color/pickguard combos and found six instead of fifteen. First, I thought my computer was broken. Then I thought I was on the Fender site! Now I know the truth. Don't worry ya'll, the truth will set BP free to give us new choices to GAS over in the near future. Meanwhile, everybody has extra incentive to get that OG or other freak color you always wanted.

I just picked up the bass this year. I was all set on Fender except all their basses were BORING. After three hours looking for my first bass, BB at TPB hooked me on EBMM and I'm glad he did. Innovative; not outdated. Iconic, but not old. Now I want a room full because they are so cool!

That's it BP... please continue to offer technology, design and style that is INNOVATIVE and COOL, not me-too. Anybody can do what Fender does to make a buck; nobody does what you've been doing right all these years. You have a new customer/player for life if you do. I'm OG and I'm out ya'll!

I blame the retailers. With the economy as it is they arent gonna chance having dead stock in a slightly adventurous color. So they stick to red, black, white and plain old burst.

Oh well, there best be some darn pretty colors coming up. I think I am getting some good money in the near future, so come up with an olive gold replacement!
