Closest to the JP neckwise would be another JP, but a runner up is probably a Silhouette or 25.

The 25th can definitely handle detuning (I have mine in Drop B right now). The Silhouette Bass guitar is a definite winner here, too.

On the tunings, I don't see myself going any lower than down to C.

Pete is/was/somewhat is (I am so confused) a JP man, and if a GR suits his needs more than fine, then I think that's a good tried and tested level of proof right there.

If only going down to C than the Baritone really isn't necessary. Ive got to recommend the hardtail ASS then if you want to play heavy music, though not having a forearm contour may be a bigger factor than the neck. I set up my Sub to play in C and it smokes too.
