The Count of Tuscany on the other hand... Best DT song in a long long time. Scenes from a memory long.

I think Rite of Passage would be better off not on the album
So there you have more conflicting opinions. I like Wither, though. Simple, but good.

But all of You must admit that the album is great and consistent?!!
Its strong album for me as I havent been addicted to DT since Octavarium and unfortunately I'm not a big fan of Systematic Chaos although it was the album when JP F1 been introduced and the sound changed very much(for better) and still evolving.

i like the song!
loved the album, yes they totally went into a slightly different direction but I love those guys and their songs! I just wish JP would at least bring back his Jazz-Fusion-ish vibe on their next album just like on their Images and Words.. (best album for me)

I think its a great song for anyone to listen to..not just guitar players and Dream Theater and prog metal maniacs (like me).
I do agree with you redeleon on the Jazz-Fusion stuff from Images and Words. LaBrie's voice has improved though...doesnt sound so whiney as it used to. Maybe its because of the facial hair going on there? hahaha

Add me, I am not a fan of this song! Sounds like any mediocre metal ballad from any band.

It's quite generic, I give you that, but it's very well done, recorded, mixed, etc so I like it, plus it's a break from all the craziness that's happening on the album. Kind of what Vacant was in TOT.
To me the odd song is A Rite of Passage. That belonged more to SC (which I didn't like apart from Repentance) than BCSL.

I really don't mind this song at all, and even though they are my favorite band, I heard Never Enough today for the first time in a while, and I don't really like that song at all apart from Jordan's solo section.

I really liked this song a lot when I first heard it. I really liked what I thought it meant. However, when I heard what it was really about, I didn't like it as much anymore. The concept of writing about writer's block is a bit too much like a creative writing assignment I did in middle school or the freshman year of high school. I think JP did it a lot better than I did, though.

I pretty much agree with all stated above too. Sure every now and then a band needs to slow it down and through out a ballad. Not really any acrobatics in it from the guys but its to the point. Could be pretty radio friendly I guess. Thats why I listen to satellite radio though because heard The Shattered Fortress not too long ago on there!
