How come no guitars come with straplocks of sort?
I figure every EBMM guitar / bass is a very nice instrument, and there are now only a few less expensive sterling models.
But if they standard guitars are $1500 and up, and the BFR's cost over $2000 how come none of them come with some sort of strap lock, such as EB's super locks? i will not play a guitar standing up without locks. Does anyone just put a strap on the standard locks and not care? I would never do that to a guitar, even my original $200 and $600 guitars have them installed. Am i missing something can someone explain this to me? I figure it can't be more than 20 bucks more, and then there is no worries about hitting the neck with a screwdriver or striping a screw, or finding out that the hole is to big for your screws, and other silly things like that. (yes I realize it's not hard to put them on, but i figure all nice guitars should come with them std) |

I understand the desire for straplocks, but I think it's all about choice. There are good offerings from a few really good accessories makers. Personally, I use a DiMarzio Cliplock strap which means I would just be taking the straplocks off anyway. Some people I know just plain don't like them.

I've never used strap locks with my EBMM guitars, since I find the provided strap buttons adequate for my needs. OTOH, I don't usually jump up and down the stage (not any more, at any rate!)
![]() I have seen the need for strap locks on some of my other guitars with vintage style strap buttons, but usually solved this with either Dunlop plastic locks or some kind of DIY stuff. |

I'd rather like to have the choice especially when you have many guitars equipped with another brand
purchasing separately doesn't bother me

I've never used a strap lock. The only experience I've had with them is when our acoustic player using a thin acoustic came on stage for a set and one strap lock (not ebmm) pulled out of the guitar. I handed him my backup (the Sublhouette) and we finished up.
I always stand up when performing, but I don't throw the guitar around at all. Never had a strap come off the stock pegs.

I do not use strap locks and I have never had a problem in 24 years of playing bass and 14 years of playing guitar.

It's a small cost but it adds up in the cost of an EBMM. They are also a personal preference. Some like them while others don’t.

If they were standard feature then there would be people doing the following:
I have locks on a few of my guitars (the ones I gig hard) but most of them do not have them since they are used at home and in the studio, where I don't need them. It is really quite easy to add EB straplocks to an EB guitar because they use the same screw diameter & thread pitch as the standard buttons do. Any good tech or your dealer should be able to do the install if you aren't comfortable with the screwdriver.

I know there are obviously many choices for them, and people like one brand over another. It just seems like a protect your investment sorta thing.
My first guitar fell off the strap when i was standing one day. This was probably 12 years ago. I also had an expensive guitar drop at a gig (the end of a set, and i thankfully caught it since it was the neck that came loose) and that was with straplocks.. how easy is it to put the ebmm ones on a strap? I find the part that goes onto the strap for dunlop ones to be cumbersome to attach. Regarding the colors, it would simply match the rest of the hardware. and being happy? come on, us guitarists are never happy, we always need one more, and a little improvement or feature

regarding the cliplocks.. since there is part of the clip lock that is always attached to the guitar, and flapping around, wouldnt they scratch the paint job, say when put in the case?
