MC Sapp a Bakersfield, CA native, started on bass over 30 years ago.
“I received a Music Man Stingray Bass back in 1978 from my Dad and Stepmom while I was a senior in High School. It was my second Bass Guitar, my first being a copy of an old Gibson that cost me $60.00 at a pawnshop. At the time I received the MM I was playing in a Church Choir that I had played in 2 years prior to the MM. I continued to play it into the mid 80’s traveling the state from Oakland to San Diego. In the mid 80’s a situation arose where I had to sell my amp, which was a 400w solid-state head through a 2/15 Cab. My playing started to decline after that and eventually I just stopped playing. Computers replaced music as my hobby. In the early 90’s I tried to play again but it was short lived. Shortly after that I lost my mind and traded my MM for a 6 string off-brand that I later traded for a 5 string. My playing still wasn’t revived. Fast forward to 2006 I walked into Guitar Center and saw a 4 string OLP and had MM flashbacks, I knew I couldn’t get the real deal so I bought the OLP. I played in a Choir Reunion later that year. In 2008 I bought another amp. My playing still lagged. Summer 2009 my interest started coming back and I started practicing and bought an SR305 5 String still dreaming of a MM. While on face book I saw a link to go to Bass Frontiers Magazine and register for a chance to win a Music Man Sterling Bass which I did even though I though it was a long shot to win it. I actually forgot that I had registered. On October 19th, 2009 I received an email from Bass Frontiers Magazine congratulating me on winning the Bass in the giveaway. I thought who is this? Then as I read on I started to remember I had registered. It was confirmed when I received a message to call Dave Fowler ASAP and of course I had A BIG OLE’ SMILE now. We talked for a few minutes and went over everything and Boo-‐Yah I have a Brand New Music Man Sterling Bass. A dream comes true for me. It is a Blessing from God to receive this instrument because buying one is out the question for me as far as I can see. I would like to thank Bass Frontiers Magazine for being a part of bringing a Music Man back into my Life to have for my very own! Bass Frontiers and Music Man, you have gained a friend forever!”
