Samantha, I can't believe you think Axl was the whole band?!
Listen carefully to all the parts - especially the consistent rhythm section with Duff, Steven, and Izzy on Appetite for Destruction.

Izzy was instrumental (figuratively and literally) in writing a lot of the tunes. Axl added the character and words. And Slash's melodies made the tunes stick in our memories forever (e.g. Sweet Child of Mine).

Don't kid yourself. Slash is a great guitarist.

Btw, Mike Clink, Steve Thompson, George Marino and the whole engineering crew did an excellent job on this album. It all came together to make a classic album.

Smantha, you are totally wrong. Slash made Snakepit, with more or less success, and now he is successful again with Velvet Revolver, and... Where are AXL Rose and HIS Guns & Roses??? Yeah, I know they finally released Their Chinese Democracy... 15 years after the original band broke. And almost nobody speaks a single word of them, while many people are waiting for the new Velver Revolver, and their new record. And I think I got to remember you all the musicians Slash has worked with too... Alice Cooper, Lenny Kravitz, Motorhead, Ozzy Osbourne, and so on. I agrre with Joshua, Slash is one of the best guitar players in the world, if it wasn't for that, he would have never worked with these people on their records or live gigs

Slash is not overrated, he is one of the best, not THE best, but definitely one of the best guitarists of all time, just listen to Appetite for Destruction, then try to say otherwise.
