Guitar Fabrication Engineer


Full Time: Monday - Thursday, 7AM to 5:30PM


As a member of the Engineering team at Ernie Ball Music Man, you will collaborate with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams to implement high quality electric guitars and basses into production, as well as provide technical support to maintain manufacturability of carefully crafted designs already in process. Develop and implement manufacturing procedures, programs, and documentation for new and current guitar designs using existing techniques
Design, fabricate, and implement jigs, fixtures and tooling
Evaluate new and existing guitar designs for efficient manufacturability
Create 3D solid models and 2D technical drawings using Pro/Engineer or equivalent CAD software
Write production CNC programs using Pro/Manufacture or equivalent CAM software
Source and select the components needed for tooling and manufacturing processes
Evaluate prototype products and designs for possible refinement through assembly and test
Become an expert in manufacturing which includes analyzing existing products and production methods, and developing improved ones
Create accurate bills-of-materials and other documentation for product release
Provide clear and timely communication to the team regarding project goals and milestones


Superior knowledge of and a passion for guitars
Expert computer and CAD/CAM skills (3+ years required)
Superior skills in setting up and operating CNC vertical machining centers (3+ years required)
Superior knowledge of woodworking and use of associated tools (3+ years required)


Bachelor of Science degree Engineering or other related field
Experience as a fabricator in a professional manufacturing environment (3+ years preferred)
Guitar/bass player preferable, with proficient knowledge of guitars and related products
Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances
Superior programming experience with CNC machines and G-Code
Knowledge of a variety of construction and finish materials
Familiarity working with construction materials and associated tools and machinery
Ability to work independently to provide solutions
Ability to effectively communicate with technical development teams, management, and production personnel
Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
Strong interpersonal skills that instill trust, respect, and high personal work standards
