Pete Townshend

Official Site

Pete Townshend, singer, songwriter, guitarist and leader of the rock band The Who. Pete has been writing and recording for close to 50 years, starting out in the early 60's with bandmates Roger Daltry, John Entwistle and later famed rock drummer Keith Moon. With the British Blues boom in full swing, Pete Townshend opted to concentrate on songwriting and composition and less on guitar virtuosity.  Pete emerged as one of the most prolific writers of his generation and is responsible for well over 200 songs throughout his career.  Some of his most popular anthems appear on many Who selections and solo efforts, including My Generation, Pinball Wizard, Won't Get Fooled Again, Who are You and You Better, You Bet. Pete is also praised for his Rock opera milestones "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia".

The Who's last cd "Endless Wire" in 2006 was the groups first studio release in almost a quarter of a century, proving Pete and the band have stood the test of time continuing into their 6th decade of high decibel-rock music.
