Steve Vai
Official SiteSteve Vai is one of the most Dynamic Virtuosos in the world. Studying with Joe Satriani and attending The Berklee College of Music enabled Steve Vai to hone in his guitar skills at an early age. Frank Zappa was so impressed with some of Steve's transcriptions that he asked him to join his band on the spot. In the early eighties Steve toured the world as part Zappa's backing band. Venturing out on his own, Steve released two solo instrumental records, "Flex-able" and "Flex-able Leftovers."
In a few short years Steve's career began to take off. He replaced Yngwie Malmsteen as the lead guitarist in Alcatrazz, and eventually landed the lead guitarist role for The David Lee Roth Band. After leaving David Lee Roth, Steve was asked to join Whitesnake and a successful world tour ensued. In the mid-nineties, Steve Vai released his most notable solo album, Passion and Warfare. The album solidified his contribution to the rock world and was certified gold by the RIAA. Throughout his career Steve lent his talent to a number of film scores and also appeared in the Film Crossroads as guitar slinger Jack Butler who sold his soul to the devil. Some of his most recent releases have included a movie score soundtrack compilation The Elusive Light and Sound Part 1 a mammoth 10-disc cd box set encompassing highlights from his entire career called The Secret Jewel. Steve has also toured as co-headliner with Joe Satriani on multiple G3 tours. G3 has showcased some of the most prominent notable guitarists around such as Eric Johnson, John Petrucci , Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert.
