 Kirk Hammett, one of Heavy Metal's most prominent musicians and lead guitarist for metal masters Metallica.  Kirk grew up in the bay area forming his first group Exodus in 1980.  Garnering attention as a talented lead player, Kirk was quickly drafted by Metallica following Dave Mustaine's dismissal in 1983.  Not being the principle songwriter, Kirk's major contributions would be his incredible knack for writing the perfect riff. Metallica's "Enter Sandman" starting life as a reoccurring guitar lick at 3:00 am back at Kirk's hotel room. What transpired next is one of rock and metal's most recognizable anthems.

Prior to releasing the infamous Black Album, Metallica was the undisputed heavy metal band of the 80's.  Before the commercial success that came with The Black Album, albums "Kill Em All" and "Master of Puppets" created an immense underground fan following.
